As the Champions League returned for game week 3 with several mouth-watering clashes, we took a look at how the Chinese fans reacted online to these early morning fixtures.

Insights:

-The average followers of a Champions League club were 2.96m, as opposed to under 500,000 fans for a club in the Europa League.

-Of the 33 teams online in China, currently only 14 teams feature in the Champions League group stages, highlighting a huge opportunity for the other 18 teams in this European tournament.

-The Premier League (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City) and Serie A (Juventus and Roma) are the only leagues represented online by all of their teams that qualified for the Champions League.
